According to Texas Estates Code Chapter 258, anytime a new probate case is filed to probate a will or determine and heirship or open an administration, a citation is required to be posted to “all persons interested in the estate.” This is typically done by posting a citation typically at the courthouse in the county where the case is pending. This citation puts the whole wide world on notice that the case has been filed. In Texas, the Posted Citation or Poster Citation is required to remain posted until the Monday following ten days according to Texas Estates Code Section 51.053 and 51.104.
